About LIFT Isle of Wight

LIFT Isle of Wight (Local Initiatives For Transport) is the Island’s Rural Transport Partnership. The partnership was initially formed in 2001, with a number of key organisations coming together to form a partnership to address rural transport issues. Since June 2002 a Rural Transport Partnership Officer (RTPO) has been employed full time for the partnership.

The Partnership was set up under the Countryside Agency’s Rural Transport Partnership scheme, but is now funded by SEEDA with the Isle of Wight Council, the lead partner, providing the rest of the funding.

Partner Organisations

The partner organisations that comprise LIFT Isle of Wight are:
  • Isle of Wight Council
  • Isle of Wight Rural Community Council

  • Quality Transport Partnership
  • Isle of Wight NHS Primary Care Trust
  • Association of Parish and Town Councils

The aim of the partnership

Actions of the partnership

LIFT Isle of Wight issued an Action Plan in 2003. This document outlines the main rural transport issues on the Island, and provided a plan to address a number of these issues.
